Friday's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup: Mohamed Simakan, Jadon Sancho, Emerson Palmieri

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Chelsea on Friday, January 1.

The summer transfer window has now closed, with Chelsea among the busiest clubs and biggest spenders in world football.

After two windows without signing a single player, the Blues made up for lost time by splashing well over £200m on the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva. Attention will now switch to the January window and whether Chelsea will invest heavily again.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Strasbourg centre-back Mohamed Simakan in January.

The 20-year-old has not missed a single Ligue 1 match for his French club during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing one goal and one assist in 17 appearances.

Simakan has a contract with Strasbourg until June 2023, but according to Le 10 Sport, the youngster could be on the move during the January transfer window.

The report claims that Chelsea want to bring the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge, although Frank Lampard's side could face intense competition from Italian giants AC Milan.

Simakan, who has also played right-back and central midfield for his club this season, is believed to be valued in the region of £13.5m.

The Blues have also allegedly joined the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho in a big-money deal.

Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho.

A proposed move to Old Trafford for the 20-year-old dominated the talk of the summer transfer window, but United could not agree a fee with Dortmund and he remained at the Westfalenstadion.

Sancho has since failed to hit the same heights as last season and is yet to find the back of the net in the current Bundesliga campaign, but the England international is still being linked with a move to a title-chasing Premier League side.

Liverpool are said to be keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Sancho's future, but according to the Que Golazo podcast, Chelsea are ready to do battle with their Premier League rivals for his signature.

Dortmund have supposedly accepted that the former Manchester City man will eventually seek pastures new, and an intense battle for his services will commence in the summer with the Bundesliga side not willing to sanction a January exit.

Sancho's current deal at the Westfalenstadion will expire in 2023, and the attacker's only goals this season have come in the Champions League and DFB-Pokal.
