Liverpool are still 'hopeful' of coming to an agreement with Mohamed Salah over a new contract, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly still 'hopeful' of coming to an agreement with Mohamed Salah over a new deal.

The Egypt international has again been in strong form for the Reds during the 2021-22 campaign, making 36 appearances in all competitions, contributing 28 goals and 10 assists in the process.

Salah's contract at Anfield is due to expire next June, though, and the Merseyside giants are finding it difficult to agree a salary with the experienced attacker.

Barcelona and Juventus are both believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation, with the 29-year-old potentially becoming available for transfer during this summer's market.

However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool's owners are still 'hopeful' of signing Salah to fresh terms, with the club believing that he will eventually lower his wage demands.

The Egyptian is thought to want £500,000 a week to remain at Anfield, having established himself as one of the best players in the world during his time at the club.

Salah has scored 153 goals and registered 57 assists in 239 appearances for Liverpool since joining the English giants from Roma in July 2017.
