Tottenham Hotspur complete the signing of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg on a six-year deal for a fee reported to be around £43m.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg.

The centre-back has put pen to paper on a six-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Van de Ven was in attendance for Tottenham's 5-1 pre-season win over Shakhtar Donetsk last weekend ahead of finalising the terms of his switch.

The fee to take the 22-year-old to North London is thought to be worth around £43m.

Van de Ven is Tottenham's fifth new arrival of the summer after James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Ashley Phillips and Manor Solomon, while they have also struck deals to keep Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski permanently.

The Dutchman will wear the number 37 shirt and joins Spurs after two years with Wolfsburg, during which time he made 41 appearances across all competitions.

Van de Ven is a Netherlands Under-21s international and captained the team in the European Championships at that level earlier this summer.

The defender was also included in the preliminary Netherlands senior squad for the World Cup in Qatar last year, but he did not make the final cut and is yet to make his debut for the main national team.

Spurs will play their final pre-season friendly against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy this evening, before beginning competitive life under Ange Postecoglou away to Brentford in their Premier League opener on Sunday.

Tottenham are expected to bolster their ranks further before then, though, with confirmation of Alejo Veliz's arrival also imminent.
