Pride in London rescheduled for September 11

Pride in London organisers confirm that this year's event will go ahead on September 11.

This year's London Pride has been scheduled to take place on September 11, organisers have announced.

The annual summer event, which includes live performances and a parade through the streets of central London, was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, with the UK government aiming to lift almost all social distancing measures on June 21, Pride organisers believe it will be safe enough to proceed in early September.

A statement from organisers said: "Now we have the roadmap from the government, we're working closely with the mayor's office, Westminster City Council and other key bodies in London to finalise what our plans will look like.

"We'll be announcing further details of the event, including what format it will take and how to participate or volunteer, in due course. We will continue to monitor and adhere to the necessary health guidance.

"Naturally, we can't wait to bring all of our wonderful communities together again and stand with them to champion LGBT+ rights across the capital and beyond."

Brighton Pride - headlined by Britney Spears in 2018 and Kylie Minogue in 2019 - has also been reinstated to the calendar and will take place from August 6 to 8.
