Nick Carter says that he is "completely heartbroken" by the sudden death of his sister Bobbie Jean.

Nick Carter has said that he is "completely heartbroken" by the tragic death of his sister Bobbie Jean last month.

The Carter sibling died at the age of 42 just before Christmas after being found in the bathroom of her home in Tampa, Florida.

The death of Bobbie Jean came almost exactly a year after their brother Aaron Carter died in his bathtub, and 11 years on from the death of sister Leslie due to an overdose.

Writing on social media, Backstreet Boys star Nick said: "It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has endured over the years – most recently, with the sudden passing of our sister Bobbie Jean. I am completely heartbroken.

"Thank you for all your love and kind words. We are reminded again that life is precious, fleeting and to cherish the time we have with the ones we love.

"I know she is finally at peace with God. I love you BJ."

Bobbie Jean is survived by her eight-year-old daughter Bella.
