Burnley chairman 'hopeful' of Sean Dyche stay

Burnley chairman Mike Garlick says that he is 'hopeful' that manager Sean Dyche will stay amid reported interest from Everton.

Burnley chairman Mike Garlick has said that he is 'hopeful' that Sean Dyche will stay on as manager despite Everton's reported interest in him.

The 46-year-old is thought to be the Toffees' top target following the decision to sack Ronald Koeman last week, with some reports suggesting that an official approach for Dyche could be made within the next 24 hours.

Dyche has been at Turf Moor for five years, guiding them to the Premier League twice and keeping them in the division last year thanks to an impressive record at home.

The Clarets have also made an impressive start to this season, and moved up to seventh in the table on Monday night courtesy of a victory over Newcastle United.

"That's the price of success I guess," Garlick told BBC Radio 5 live of the Everton links. "The more success we get, the more people are going to look at him. But we look after him well and we hope he's going to be here for a long time."

Asked if he had already been drawing up a list of potential replacements for Dyche, Garlick replied: "It's not something we are thinking about right now. There's one person on our list and that's Sean Dyche.

"We hope that continues for a long time, another five years hopefully."

Everton can reportedly secure Dyche's services for a compensation fee of around £2.5m.
