Manchester City are reportedly leading Liverpool and Barcelona in the race to sign Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala.

Manchester City have reportedly moved to the front of the queue to sign Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala.

The 21-year-old has developed into one of Europe's brightest talents since joining Bayern from Chelsea's academy in the summer of 2019.

Musiala has gone on to appear in 159 competitive matches for the Bavarians, scoring 43 goals and providing 30 assists.

The Germany international has made 34 of those appearances during the current campaign, contributing 12 goals and seven assists for Thomas Tuchel's side.

Although he is under contract until June 2026, Musiala is currently being linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena.

According to The Independent, Man City are currently leading the race to prise Musiala away from the German giants.

There is a belief that Musiala could be available to buy in the summer, or in 2025 if he fails to agree a new contract with Bayern.

The Bavarians are said to be keen to extend Musiala's current deal, but the two parties are yet to reach an agreement over a new contract.

While the Citizens are seemingly the most interested, Musiala has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

A report suggested that Bayern will hold out for £100m if they decide to part ways with Musiala at the end of the season.

Man City's alternative options

Man City appear to have identified Musiala as one of their main targets to strengthen their attacking options, which currently include Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva.

However, they are also considering West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta and Crystal Palace's Michael Olise ahead of the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola's side have allegedly agreed personal terms with Paqueta after previously being linked with a move last summer.

Meanwhile, Olise has struggled with injury this season but has still managed to impress with six goals and three assists in 12 Premier League appearances.
