Sports Mole's countdown of the top 10 Premier League strikers of all time continues with number eight - Andy Cole.

Newcastle United were a second-tier club when Andy Cole joined in 1992, but it did not take long for him fire them into the top flight and then prove that he belonged at the summit of English football.

Cole's first full season in the Premier League saw him score 34 times in 40 appearances and break the 40-goal mark across all competitions, establishing the newly-promoted Magpies as title contenders.

Manchester United soon came knocking, though, and when Cole made his shock switch to Old Trafford he left Newcastle having scored 68 goals in just 84 games for the Magpies - the second-highest strike rate of any player in the club's entire history.

More goals followed at his new United, where he forged a telepathic partnership with Dwight Yorke and helped fire the club to five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League to cap off the treble-winning 1999 season.

A journeyman period followed his 2002 United departure, but he kept scoring and only two players in Premier League history can better his final tally of 187 goals in the competition.
