Ajax boss Erik ten Hag reportedly emerges as the new favourite to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly regarded as the new frontrunner in the race to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United.

While Ralf Rangnick currently occupies the role on an interim basis, there is already talk that United's first-team squad have been left unimpressed by the appointment.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has long been tipped to eventually make the switch to Old Trafford, particularly at a time when he has failed to win over club officials at Parc des Princes.

Nevertheless, according to The Times, United are currently more inclined to make an approach for Ten Hag at the end of the campaign.

The Ajax chief has acknowledged that he is open to taking on a new challenge in the future having been in charge of the Dutch giants since December 2017.

During that period, Ten Hag has won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups and taken the club to the brink of reaching the 2019 Champions League final.
