Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects Paul Pogba to stay at Old Trafford after the end of the current transfer window.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident that Paul Pogba will still be at Old Trafford come the end of the transfer window.

The World Cup-winning Frenchman now has less than a year left to run on his deal with the Red Devils and, as things stand, will be able to walk away for free in 2022.

United remain in contract negotiations with Pogba and Mino Raiola as they seek to avoid that worst-case scenario, and Solskjaer is not concerned whatsoever about the midfielder's situation.

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday's clash with Southampton, Solskjaer said: "I expect him (Pogba) to be here when September 1 comes.

"If you've got a five-year contract or a one-year contract, when you sign for Man United you have to rise to the challenge of performing on a consistent level.

'I'm not worried whatsoever that the length of any player's contract changes the level of their motivation and inspiration. You want to play well for your team, your teammates, yourself, your family, every time you play.

"You can't expect to score five goals every game but you do expect the attitude to be right every game. I have no worries about Paul whatsoever."

The former Juventus man set up four of his side's five goals in last weekend's 5-1 drubbing of Leeds United, and Paris Saint-Germain continue to be credited with an interest in his services.
