Lasse Vibe scores brace in Brentford win

Brentford rise into 11th position in the Championship table courtesy of a 2-1 win at Norwich City on Friday night.

Brentford have risen into 11th position in the Championship table courtesy of a 2-1 win at Norwich City.

The victory was just Brentford's second in their last seven matches in the second tier, while Norwich's 10th loss of the campaign has left them down in 16th position after 23 matches of the 2017-18 season.

Lasse Vibe opened the scoring in the 36th minute when he collected a pass from Romaine Sawyers before finding the back of the net with a smart finish.

Vibe then doubled his tally for the night five minutes later when he slotted home following another excellent pass from Sawyers.

An open first 45 minutes produced 11 shots on target, but Brentford were the more clinical in the final third as they entered the half-time break with a 2-0 lead.

Both managers made changes in the second half, with Josh Murphy among those to come off the bench for Norwich, who had one back in the 91st minute through Nelson Oliveira.

Brentford have lost 21 points from winning positions in the Championship this season, but they held on in the latter stages to secure a vital victory.

Norwich will attempt to return to winning ways when they travel to Birmingham City on Boxing Day, while next up for Brentford is a home game against Aston Villa.
